Proxy checker

Paste HTTP or SOCKS5 proxies, one per line. Our server connects through each one and shows whether it works, how fast it is, which IP websites see and whether that IP looks residential or like a datacenter.

Formats: host:port, host:port:user:password, user:password@host:port, http:// or socks5:// links. Up to 20 proxies at a time.

What the proxy checker tests

For each line, our server on Cloudflare opens a connection to the proxy and talks to it in its own protocol: HTTP, or SOCKS5 with optional username and password. Through the proxy it requests a small page from an IP echo service, which answers with the address the request came from. That address is the proxy's exit IP, the one websites see.

The exit IP is then looked up in the same database as our IP lookup: country and city, the network (ASN) it belongs to, whether it's a datacenter or a home or mobile connection, and a fraud score built from public proxy, VPN, Tor and blacklist lists.

How to read the results

Why a proxy can fail here but work for you

Many paid proxies only accept connections from IP addresses you have whitelisted in your provider's dashboard. Our server connects from Cloudflare, so such proxies reject it. Use username and password authentication for the check, or test from the device you whitelisted.

Some providers also block Cloudflare's network, and the speed here is measured from the Cloudflare data center that handled your request, not from your own device.

Questions

Is it safe to enter my proxy password?

The proxy, username and password are sent over HTTPS to our server, used for one connection to that proxy and then discarded. They aren't stored or logged. If you'd rather not share them, create a separate sub-user with your provider for testing, or change the password afterwards.

Which proxy types are supported?

HTTP proxies (including HTTPS proxies that tunnel with CONNECT), and SOCKS5 with or without a username and password. SOCKS4 and proxies that need a TLS connection to the proxy itself can't be checked yet.

How do I know if a proxy is residential?

Look at the IP type column. Residential or mobile means the exit IP belongs to a home or mobile internet provider rather than a hosting company. A low fraud score together with a residential IP type is what you want for accounts that are sensitive to IP reputation.

Does it check whether the proxy is anonymous?

It shows the IP that websites see. A working proxy hides your own IP for HTTP requests, but your browser can still leak it through WebRTC or DNS. Connect through the proxy and run our VPN and proxy test to check for those leaks.

Why is the speed different from what I see?

The check runs on the Cloudflare data center that handled your request, usually one near you, and the number includes the trip from there to the proxy and on to the test page. Your own speed through the proxy also depends on your connection and on how busy the proxy is.
